Trnovec (German: Tiefenreuter) is a settlement in the hills to the northeast of the town of Kočevje in southern Slovenia. It was a village inhabited by Gottschee Germans. At the start of the Second World War its original population was expelled. The area is part of the traditional region of Lower Carniola and is now included in the Southeast Slovenia statistical region.[2]
The local church, dedicated to The Mother of God, was a late Gothic building that was burnt down in 1942 during the Second World War.[3]
